Supermicro Releases X10 Server Solutions Featuring New Intel Xeon Processor
The Intel Development Forum, held in the 1st week of September in San Francisco had leading high
performance server developer Super Micro computers announcing their launch of the X10 Server
Building Block solutions.
The event saw the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600/1600 v3 family, formerly code named Haswell.
However, hogging the limelight was Super Micro computers new flagship products 1U/2U Ultra
SuperServer solutions which are also based upon Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3, but what sets it apart are
the 18 Cores available, up to 160W, and up to 1.5TB of DDR4 2133MHz Reg. ECC memory in 24x
DIMMs and also co-processor support from Intel Xeon Phi. They also feature Supermicro’s High
efficiency Titanium standard (96 %+) Digital power supply leading to significant improvements in
efficiency and returns on investment, energy consumed and floor area used.
According to Charles Lang, the President and CEO of Supermicro computer systems, the green
computing solutions offered by the X10 series of servers offers the most optimized Dual Processor
and Uni-Processor servers, platforms for storage with the most sophisticated technology till date. He
further went on to praise their 1U/2U system servers which are 10G/40G network enabled and
integrate it with hot-swap NVMe SSDs and SAS3 storage in a sophisticated architecture designed to
minimize fan power consumption. In combination with all the products on offer, Supermicro gives a
comprehensive solution to all the issues faced by a company pertaining to cash, space and energy, he
added before signing off.
