Cisco® Expressway Gateways To Promote ‘Any to Any communication’ Beyond The Firewall
Cisco Communications announced the launch of new version of its Expressway gateway product “Cisco® Expressway Series” on the sidelines of the Collaboration Summit in Florida recently.
Helps Customers Differentiate Themselves
These new generation gateways are designed to offer users of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Unified CM) and Business Edition 6000 (BE 6000) ability to fully leverage and extend their existing investments in VCS infrastructure to securely and seamlessly traverse rich communication data to their customers and partners present outside the enterprise.
The new functionalities provided in the ‘Expressway gateway’ is expected to help Cisco customers differentiate itself from competition by offering all their external stakeholders access to bi- directional rich media communications in the form of audio, video and visual voice mails.
Expressway Differentiators
The simplicity and the ease of implementing the Cisco® Expressway Series gateway solution stands out to that of competition offerings, since IT teams can accomplish traversing, without having to reconfigure their existing IT communication setup. Another standout feature of the ‘Expressway gateway’ is that it enables “VPN less access to Jabber,” thus making it easier for traversing rich media content into the network.
Scalable Licensing Model
Cisco\’s Kevin Roarty, in a YouTube video has explained that, “New Expressway Series allows any to any communication / collaboration beyond the firewall and is a new packaging for communication management customers with easier licensing metrics which allows them to easily get off the ground.” To highlight the cost effectiveness of the model, Cisco has gone on record to claim that the Expressway gateways offer close to 177% ROI when customers set up new data centres using CISCO unified data center solutions.
